Abstract

732,679. Shock - absorbing bearings for watches, &c. DONAT, A. April 28, 1952, No. 10704/52. Class 12 (1). A shock-absorbing bearing for timepieces comprises a restoring spring 15, Figs. 1, 2, anchored at each end in locations away from the bearing to a regulating lever 7. One form of several anchoring means described and shown has the spring 15 provided with branches 16, 19, connected by cross ties 17, 20, the bottom edges of which engage in slots under extensions 18, 21 of the lever. Another form of anchor has the spring 15 slotted at both ends and engaged by grooved studs rising from the lever. The bearing body 6 is axially held by the engagement of the lever with the upper face of the bridge and by means of a fork clip 75, Fig. 37, the arms of which embrace the body 6 when engaged in a groove formed therein. Alternatively the balance cock, Figs. 40, 41, may be provided with a machined recess 59a to accommodate a similar fork clip, pointed edges 59b being formed by conical milling over which the clip may be slipped. In a bottom jewel, Fig. 3, a cantilever spring such as 60a, Fig. 29, is provided having its side extensions engaged in lateral undercut grooves 59 of a bridge.
