Abstract

732,471. Mechanical switches, without quick action. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. March 20,1953 [April 25, 1952], No. 7824/53. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XL (c)] In a radio receiving set a. wave-change switch comprises a metal plate 10 mounted on an insulating base 1 and capable of being moved linearly by means of a handle 14 with respect to spring contacts 8, 9 fixed on the base 1. The plate 10 is attached by its turned-over endportions 11 to a further plate on the other side of the base 1, the end-portions 11 passing through extended slots 12 in the base, thereby permitting sliding motion of the plates along the direction of the slots. The plate 10 comprises projections 26, 27, 28 so that sliding the plate sideways causes it to co-operate with different ones of the spring contacts. The handle 14 is riveted to the plate 10 and a spring member 18 reinforced by a leaf spring 21 is attached thereto. The switch has three positions ; in the central one detents 19 at the ends of the spring member 18 fit into recesses in the base 1.
