Abstract
732,258. Condenser arrangements. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Oct. 2, 1953 [Oct. 15, 1952], No. 25880/52. Class 38 (4). [Also in Group XL (c)] A pulse generator of the type in which a reservoir circuit is charged via an inductor and then discharged through a discharge tube under the control of trigger pulses, comprises a protective circuit which, in the event of a reverse voltage being built up due to a fault developing in the pulse generator, prevents the discharge tube from being triggered for a predetermined period to allow the excess voltages to discharge. The Figure shows the application to a pulse generator cricuit for modulating a magnetron load M in which the delay line L is charged from a D.C. supply via inductor H and rectifier D1 and is periodically discharged through the auto-transformer T when the ignition I is fired by pulses from the trigger circuit. Normally point A is at a positive voltage and capacitor C1 is shunted by diode D2 but if due, for example, to magnetron M short-circuiting, a reverse voltage is built up at point A then diode D2 is cut-off and capacitor C1 is charged via diode D3, when the voltage at point A again goes positive, diode D2 again conducts and D3 is cut-off so that a positive voltage is applied to the trigger circuit to render it inoperative, thus holding the ignition I cut-off for a predetermined period. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 692,405, [Group XL (c)].
