732,254. Clocks. MAUTHE GES., F. Oct. 10, 1952 [Oct. 25, 1951], No. 25487/52. Class 139. An alarm clock sends out separate warning signals before the continuous main signal. In the first embodiment, Fig. 1, a star wheel a<SP>1</SP> on the seconds arbor a co-operates with a projection j of a lever h to rock the lever so that its arm h<SP>1</SP> alternately locks and frees a lever i carried by the arbor of the alarm anchor d. When the alarm is freed in known manner the hammer e is therefore controlled by the retaining lever hand will strike the bell, not shown, intermittently. At the same time a pinion b<SP>11</SP> on the alarm spring arbor b rotates a gear segment k clockwise until a projection k<SP>1</SP> thereon engages a projection l of the lever h and moves the lever h clockwise so that its arm h<SP>1</SP> frees the lever i to allow the alarm spring to run down and give the main alarm. In the second embodiment the retaining lever h, Fig. 4, is freely mounted on the alarm spring arbor and carries a spring finger o whereby it is oscillated by a star wheel a<SP>1</SP> on the seconds arbor a so that a projection h<SP>1</SP> alternately blocks and frees pins c<SP>1</SP> on the alarm escape wheel c.
