731,852. Tyre-valve connectors. TURNER, W., and ASKEW, G. Nov. 24, 1953 [Nov. 25, 1952], No. 29807/52. Class 99 (1). In a tyre-valve connector of the kind in which spring latches 24 are actuated by an external slidable sleeve 27, and a valve member 18 having a tyrevalve unseating pin 16 is located at one or both ends of the connector body, the seat 17 of each valve member is retained in the body by an externally screwthreaded plug 12, which screws into the body and has apertures 30 which register with slots 26 through which the latches project to engage the tyre valve stem. The latches engage the apertures 30 at all times to prevent the plug unscrewing. A washer 20 is interposed between the plug and the seat 17. A limit stop (not shown) is provided on the body and engages a slot in the sleeve. In a double-ended connector the valves 18 are held on their seats by a spring 19 extending between them. Alternatively the valves 18 are integrally connected, one of them being seated when the other is engaged by the tyre-valve.
