Abstract

731,576. Cable reels. CAPSEALS, Ltd. June 24, 1954 [June 25, 1953], No. 17593/53. Class 99 (2). Slotted end-flanges A are connected by segmental metal stampings C capable of being nested together when unassembled, and are provided with a number of holes a<SP>1</SP> which receive driving spindles b, b<SP>1</SP> to facilitate winding of a cable onto the reel. Each flange may have a number of pairs of slots a arranged concentrically of the flange, the stampings C being formed with lugs c at each end thereof which pass through the slots a and are bent over to retain the flanges in position. The stampings C may have inwardly curved or chamfered longitudinal edges, and inwardly pressed portions c<SP>1</SP>, intermediate those edges. A barrel c<SP>2</SP> of cardboard or other light material may be disposed over the stampings. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), each stamping has two inwardly-pressed portions c<SP>1</SP> between which the spindles b, b<SP>1</SP> pass.
