1,032,937. Reels; taking up slack in cables. DALYTE ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. March 26, 1964 [Aug. 8, 1963], No. 31414/63. Headings B8B and B8M. A cable reeling drum has flanges 12 in the form of radial spokes and a hoop or band 14 around the drum between the flanges. The band, of strip metal and fastened to the flanges by welding, may be of various diameters so as to form drums of different " effective diameter." There is a spiral groove in a frusto-conical extension 26 for the reception of a wire cord attached to a " re-winding " weight. Inside the drum carbon brushes which bear on a slip ring on the drum shaft are attached to the ends of a U-shaped springy yoke 18, Fig. 2 (not shown), on the outside of which there is a strip-like metal plaiding.
