730,481. Gravity separation apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG AKT.-GES. Sept. 4, 1952 [Sept. 11, 1951], No. 22254/52. Class 46. The means described in Specification 694,467 for separating water of condensation from the sealing liquid of a piston-type gas holder is modified in that the bottom collecting cup 2 of the holder. is connected with the separate chambers 9 and 29 for the water and the sealing liquid by a conduit 10a provided with a shut-off valve 11. The provision of this valve enables the liquid outlets in the collecting cup to be cleaned while the gas holder is. in operation. The water 3a passes through an adjustable overflow tube 26 to one limb 6 of a siphon 5 the other limb 7 of which is provided with an overflow 8 leading to the chamber 9. A second adjustable overflow tube 31 conveys the sealing liquid to one limb 17 of a liquid seal 18 the other limb 19 of which communicates by way of an overflow 20 with the chamber 29 from which sealing liquid is returned to the piston seal by a float controlled pump. The overflow tubes 26, 31 are connected in a liquid-tight manner by means of short lengths of hose to partitions 23, 24 and are adjusted by members 35, 36 which pass through gas tight covers 33, 34 and are provided with scales for adjustment.
