Abstract

730,330. Winding yarns. ARUNDEL, COULTHARD & CO., Ltd. March 9, 1954 [March 11, 1953], No. 6691/53. Class 120(2). A hank carrying swift comprising a plurality of wire frame members a each carried by a plate c supported on a telescopic member e radiating from the swift axis is characterised in that the plates c are interconnected in pairs by telescopic members d to give rigidity to the swift structure when in service. A guide ring j is provided around the outside of the swift to guide the yarn during unwinding. The plates c are moved radially outwards and inwards by links f connected thereto and operated by turning a disc g to which one end of each link is connected. A locking nut i is provided for clamping one of the links f to the disc g in any adjusted position. The swift can be moved from its operative position (full lines) to its loading position (dot-dash lines) by a handle o connected to an arm m pivoted at one end to a bracket and carrying the swift at its other end.
