An adapter for connecting a tyre-inflating valve to an inner tube comprises a substantially T-shaped body member 23 with a pair of oppositely disposed openings 32, 33 each communicating with the interior of the inner tube, a plug 44 in one of the openings, and an extension tube 37 with a valve core or insides 41 at its outer end in the other of the openings, the positions of the plug member and the extension tube being interchangeable so that the direction of extension of the extension tube may be selectively determined. The body member 23 has a flared portion 24 which is screwed to a threaded spur or bush 22 vulcanized to the inner tube 4. The flared portion 24 has a flange 25 with ribs 26 sealing against the inner tube. A bore 29 in the spur communicates by passages 28, 30 with the openings 32, 33 which are threaded to receive a coupling nut 39 for the tube 37 and the plug 44 respectively. The openings 32, 33 have conical seatings at their inner ends. In a modification the vertical limb 27 of the body member 23 is screwed into the spur or bush 22. The adapter is particularly suited to wheel assemblies with twin tyres as in the case of assemblies with a non-directional tread, a spare rim and tyre assembly having the adapter may be used for any one of the four tyres of a wheel pair. In the case of tyres having a directional tread, two spare rim and tyre assemblies only would be required for a wheel pair, one with the sealing band or gutter portion 16 of the rim one side and one with it on the other. Fig. 2 shows a twin tyre assembly on a wheel 8, the rims 6, 7 having a spacer 9. The inboard tyre 3 has an extension tube 54 of flexible steel, rubber, or plastic of sufficient length to extend to the vicinity of the valve 36 of the outboard tyre 2.
