Abstract
2276. Tottie, J. H. Jan. 29. Slipping, preventing, attachments to wheels for.- Spring-pressed plungers c with rounded edges c<2> and of square or other non-circular section are arranged around the periphery of the wheel at one or both sides of the tyre, or between twin tyres. In the form shown in Fig 1, the plungers are of square cross-section, and are held in sockets a by screwed plugs b against which heads c<1> on the plungers abut, the sockets being secured to the wheel by bolts 9. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the sockets are attached to the sides of the wheel or to the spokes by flanges h, the screwed plugs b being at the inner end of the sockets. The plungers are guided to prevent rotation in the sockets, and rubber or like studs or washers may be provided between the beads c<1> of the plungers and the sockets.
