Abstract
729,563. Fluid-pressure servomotor-control systems. JEAVONS & CO., Ltd., E. E. Sept. 17, 1953 [Sept. 17, 1952], No. 23301/52. Class 135. In a furnace forced-draught system the air flow rate is controlled by a valve 3 whose setting is determined by the pressure drop with respect to atmospheric pressure across an orifice, venturimeter or the like 1 situated at the intake to a fan or compressor 2 delivering air to the conduit 4. The pressure downstream of the orifice is led at 10 to one side of a spring- loaded diaphragm operating a valve 9 controlling the leak of air through a needle valve 7, the pressure drop across the valve 7 being applied via pipes 12, 13 to a diaphragm 11 operating the butterfly or double beat valve 3. Air from the conduit 4 is led at 5 through a governor 6 to give a constant inlet pressure to the needle valve at 8, and the flow rate is controlled by adjusting the spring loading of valve 9, the other side of whose diaphragm is exposed to atmosphere. The valve 9 may be adjustably weight loaded and pressure balanced.
