Abstract
A lubricating composition comprises a petroleum lubricating oil, a di-aliphatic phthalate and a dialiphatic tartrate, each aliphatic group being an unsaturated group containing at least 12 carbon atoms. Esters specified are dioleyl phthalate and dioleyl tartrate; 0.01-0.5 per cent. of a mixture of the esters may be added to the oil.
