Abstract

728,620. Sectional boats. MULLER, O. A. March 30, 1953 [April 3, 1952], No. 8718/53 Class 113 (2). In a sectional boat having at least one troughlike seating section 2 of sheet metal, a bow section 3 and a stern section 4 arranged to be longitudinally aligned with their adjacent ends joined by abutting walls, the bow and stern sections form closed buoyant bodies, there being a first set of tighteners 7 secured to the top side of said sections for connecting said sections together and protusions 6 provided on one of each pair of the abutting walls and adapted to engage recesses 5 formed in the other of the pair for preventing vertical relative displacement of the sections and for preventing the sections from pivoting relatively to one another about the tighteners, and the sections are of such dimensions that the or one (1) of the seating sections may contain the bow and stern sections (3, 4) in side by side relation and the largest section (2) can contain all the remaining sections of the boat when the latter is taken apart, so as to provide a compact unit for transportation purposes.
