Abstract
728,395. Road traffic signs. NORTON, A. Feb. 26, 1953 [Feb. 26, 1.952], No. 5073/52. Class 3 (2). A signal indicator for mounting on the back of the hand and/or the back of a finger comprises a battery casing 1 pivotally connected to a lamp holder 1 and means for completing the electrical circuit through the lamp 14 and the battery 2 on movement of a segment of the finger to afford relative pivotal movement between the lamp holder and the battery casing. As shown, the lamp 14 is mounted in a socket 13 in the lamp holder 11, the lamp being surmounted by a transparent shield 16 screwed to the holder. The holder is attached by a pivot pin 12 to the battery casing 1 and both the lamp holder and battery casing are adapted to be attached to a finger of a vehicle driver so that when the finger is bent there is no complete circuit between the battery and the lamp, but so that when the finger is straightened the centre terminal 27 of the lamp touches one terminal of the battery to complete the circuit. The battery casing is slidably attached by means of a ring 1 to a saddle 7 which engages the finger so that it can move axially when the finger is bent. The lamp holder and battery casing are attached to the finger by elastic bands 8, 15. In a modification the battery casing is fixed to the saddle which is held to the finger by a wire clip engaging elongated slots in the saddle. The lamp holder is not fixed to the finger in this construction but is biased by a spring so that it follows when the finger is bent.
