Abstract

A dispersion of ethyl cellulose is prepared by mixing the ethyl cellulose in a Banbury mixer or on a rubber mill with an equal quantity of a plasticizer consisting of 50 per cent castor oil and 50 per cent dioctyl phthalate, 10 per cent ammonium caseinate solution is added to the mixture in amount to give 5 per cent caseinate based on the mixture. 5 Per cent oleic acid is then added and finally, dilute ammonia water is worked into the mix until an oil in water type of dispersion is obtained (see example II).
