Abstract

a - Hydroxy - g - methylmercaptobutyric acid and its magnesium, calcium, strontium and ammonium salts are obtained as in the parent Specification. The free acid, optionally admixed, with the above salts, is used in poultry feeds, c.f. Group I.ALSO:a - Hydroxy g methylmercaptobutyric acid may be used in the poultry feedstuffs of the parent Specification either together with or in place of its ammonium, magnesium, calcium and strontium salts therein described as feed supplements.
