Abstract
727,830. Crop sprayers. ROWLAND, R. H., and ORCHARD, F. M. Dec. 15, 1953 [Dec. 22, 1952], No. 32407/52. Class 69 (3). A sprayer in which a horizontal sprinkler pipe c with outlets s is automatically oscillated about its axis includes a framework comprising side parts a interconnected by a cross-bar b which is secured to the pipe c by one or more clamps d. A tank f is pivotally mounted at one end of the framework and a counterweight g is secured to the other end, and the assembly is supported in bearings i carried by supports h. A proportion of the water fed to the sprinkler pipe is fed via pipes j, j<SP>1</SP> and a regulating valve n, to the tank, and as the tank is filled the assembly slowly swings in the bearings until the counterweight g is uppermost. In this position a valve operating member o is moved by a weight q thereon and water from the tank is discharged through the valve to the ground. While the tank is emptying the counterweight returns the assembly to its initial position and the action is repeated.
