[Also in Group XXXII] A lashing 5 for a lifeboat cover 3 adapted to embrace the lifeboat 1 comprises two lengths 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>1</SP>, of ordinary hemp rope adapted for attachment to the lifeboat cover and interconnected by at least one member 6 provided with elastic properties in the direction of length of the lashing. The member 6 may be of solid rubber, may be of rubber strings, or may consist of a metal spring or a combination of springs with another member (see Group XXXII).
