Abstract
727,386. Drawing glass tubing. CORNING GLASS WORKS. Oct. 15, 1953 [Oct. 23, 1952], No. 28503/53. Class 56. In the drawing of glass tubing wherein a hollow mandrel 15 carrying a bore-forming head 22 is used, the mandrel is insulated from a metal sleeve 25 and current is passed from a source X through the mandrel and sleeve. The current passes through the glass adjacent the outlet 13 and head 22 by the paths 26, 27 to the orifice ring 14 back to terminal Y, thereby supplying auxiliary heat to the glass adjacent the point of drawing. Specification 349,315 is referred to.
