Abstract
727,379. Contacting gases with liquids. DIDIER-KOGAG-HINSELMANN KOKSOFENBAU UND GASVERWERTUNG AKT.- GES. Aug. 19, 1953, No. 22892/53. Class 55 (2). A gas washing tower has three washing stages 2, 3 and 4, each containing a packing of hurdles, bars, rods, granular or porous material such as coke supported above plates such as 8 and 9, pumps 15, 22 and 25 being mounted at ground level to deliver used washing liquid from the bottom to the top of each stage, each pump having its inlet connected by a pipe 14, 21 or 26 to an elevated reservoir mounted just below the bottom of a stage and which receives washing liquid from the bottom of a stage. The drawing shows two elevated reservoirs 13 and 19 for the stages 2 and 3, while the reservoir for the stage 4 is formed in the base of the tower. Fresh washing liquid is added by pipe 11 and the reservoirs 13 and 19 have overflows 18 and 24, the former leading to reservoir 19 and the latter to the reservoir in the base of the tower. Washing liquid may be removed through an outlet 28.
