Abstract

The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0727151/IV (b)/1> wherein R1 and R2 are alkyl radicals, of 1 to 3 carbon atoms, which may join to form with the N atom a heterocyclic radical, R3 is an alkyl radical of 1 to 3 carbon atoms or an aralkyl group which may be halogen-substituted, and X and Y are separately hydrogen or halogen, and acid addition salts thereof. They may be prepared by reacting a b -alkoxy-a -phenylacrylonitrile with an unsymmetrically disubstituted guanidine. In the examples: (1) a -propionyl - p - chlorophenylacetonitrile is reacted with diazomethane and the resulting a ,p-chlorophenyl-b -methoxy-b -ethyl-acrylonitrile is reacted p in ethanol with a solution of N-dimethyl guanidine prepared from the sulphate and sodium ethoxide. 2 - Dimethylamino - 4 - amino - 5 - p - chlorophenyl - 6 - ethyl pyrimidine is precipitated. (2) N-pentamethylene-guanidine, prepared as the hydrobromide from piperidine and S-ethylthiouronium bromide, is reacted with a -p-chlorophenyl-b -methoxy-b -ethylacrylonitrile to give 2-pentamethyleneamino - 4 - amino - 5 - p - chlorophenyl - 6 - ethyl pyrimidine. Also prepared are 2-(1-morpholino) - 4 - amino - 5 - p - chlorophenyl - 6 - ethyl pyrimidine; 2 - dimethylamino - 4 - amino - 5 - (3,4 - dichlorophenyl) - 6 - ethyl - and -6-methyl-pyrimidine.
