727,025. Alarm devices in textile spinning, &c., machines. FINE SPINNERS & DOUBLERS, Ltd. Nov. 24, 1952 (Nov. 24, 1951], No. 27609/51. Class 120 (3). A device for indicating breakage of yarn 4 between a supply package 13 and take-up package 15 or the exhaustion of the package 13 in a yarn twisting frame comprises a sensitively biased detector wire 1 arranged in the path of the yarn and pivoted on a fulcrum 2 adjacent to a yarn guide 3. The wire 1 is held by the tension of the yarn in a position in which it does not operate the device but when the yarn breaks or the yarn supply fails the wire 1 swings into the path of an oscillating striker arm 5 attached to a bar 6 freely rotatable in bearings carried by levers 7 secured to a shaft 8 which, as shown, is given a rocking motion by an extension 9 of the existing package (15) traverse rod through a bell-crank lever 10 and links 11 and 12 the motion of the arm 5 is interrupted and the bar 6 is twisted, thereby tilting a mercury switch 16 to complete a circuit(s) to indicating lamp (s) and/or audible signal device(s). The striker arm 5 continues to rock so that the indicating device will operate intermittently, but a manually-releasable ratchet device may be, incorporated in the device in order to provide a continuous indication.
