Abstract

A yarn package forming e.g. the weft supply of a loom is mounted on one arm of a pref. centrally lever, the other arm of which carries an adjustable counterbalance weight. When the package is nearly empty the counterbalance weight overcomes the weight of the package and causes the lever to tilt and actuate a switch which pref. operates an alarm (e.g. visual or audible). The device is simple and automatically notifies a machine operative when a package needs replacing.
