Abstract
867,106. Stop motions for textile machines. PRINCE-SMITH & STELLS Ltd. Aug. 24, 1959 [Aug. 20, 1958], No. 26804/58. Class 120(2) In a doubling machine in which a detector is responsive to each yarn unwinding from a package mounted on a rotatable support with an offset, a detector is moved by breakage or failure of supply of one yarn to engage the offset on the support carrying the other yarn package and so stop that package and rupture the other yarn. Each support has a light balloon spring 14 for holding the package and a base 11 which carries an offset 16 and is rotatably mounted on a peg 12 fixed in a bracket 10. The wire hook detectors 18, 19 are respectively pivoted at 20, 21 on the bracket 10 and carry arms 181, 191, which upon yarn breakage engage the offsets 16 of the packages supplying yarn to the detectors 19, 18 respectively. The yarns pass from the detectors through a fixed guide 22 and a pivoted weight-biased guide 17 which is held in the position shown in Fig. 1 by the tension of the yarn. If one or both of the yarns break between the guide 17 and feed rolls (not shown) the guide 17 raises a cranked rod 171 which turns a lever 24 pivoted at 25 in the bracket 10 to engage the offset 16 of one package, whereon the yarns are ruptured. Pressure applied to a knob 262 of a pivoted resetting lever 26 acts through a cross-piece 262 to rotate the detectors 18, 19 and the lever 24 into operating position.
