Abstract
726,370. Moulds for concrete articles. SCHULZ, E., FINSTERWALDER, U., and JECHT, R. June 17, 1953, No. 16656/53. Class 87 (2) To permit the immediate uncasing of moulded concrete bodies (e.g. railway ties) a moulding box 2 has one or more slightly flexible inserts 7 which are held hermetically closed against seats 6 during the shaking of the concrete by means of bolts 12 passing through U-members 10 on the mould-body 2 and engaging insert 7 in its threaded part 9. In operation, the mould is filled, shaken and inverted as in Fig. 1 after which bolt 12 is unscrewed and the compression springs 13 and 14 raise the mould body 2 to the position shown in Fig. 2. Wedges 15 are placed under flanges 3 and the bolt 12 tightened thus raising insert 7 from the workpiece 1 to the position shown in Fig. 3. In a modification, Fig. 6, inserts 7<1>, 7<11>, 7<111> are attached to a traverse 16 and the bolt 12 has a collar 12<1> so that the mould-body 2 and traverse 16 may be raised, as before, to the position shown. In a further modification the U-members are arranged transversely and consist of two parallel sheet members arranged to support the mould during filling and having a cross-member between them to hold the bolt 12. Means for tensioning reinforcing rods and carrying members are also incorporated.
