Moulds 1 for sleepers or beams are successively raised by a table to surround the wires at the right hand end of the bed 10, and coupled together and moved by a winch to the left until the bed is filled with moulds. A hopper fills all the moulds 1 with concrete, and vibration is applied from a table in the bed 10 (which comprises a pit), or by attached mould vibrators. Steam is passed through the bed pit 10 by pipes while the moulds are covered (20) (see Fig. 5, not reproduced), the reinforcing wires are detensioned, and severed between each mould by a disc cutter 21. A table 22 lowers the moulds successively from the left hand end of the bed, the wire ends are ground away, and the moulds 1 inverted, emptied and cleaned. Each mould 1 comprises a ganged series 2 (Fig. 3) having end walls each comprising a pair of fixed 3 and removable 4 slotted plates that locate the reinforcing wires.
