Abstract
Compounds of the formula <FORM:0726286/IV (b)/1> are prepared by reacting the aminodiol with a dichloracetimino alkyl ether (one of the reactants being present as an acid addition salt) in an organic solvent containing at least one equivalent of water below 50 DEG C., preferably between 20 DEG and 35 DEG C. Under these conditions the formation of oxazolines is minimized. The aminodiol may be the D-, L- or DL-, threo or erythro form. In examples the D-(-)-threo, L-(+)-threo and DL-erythro forms are acylated with dichloracetimino ethyl ether in aqueous ethanol and the DL-threo form with dichloracetimino methyl ether in aqueous methanol.
