Gymnastic apparatus comprises one or more rectangular vertical panels each of which is supported at one end by an upper pivot connected to a wall and a lower pivot connected to the wall or to the adjacent floor and is maintained in an operative position substantially perpendicular to the wall by a bolt connecting its free end with the floor and by one or more horizontal members connecting the upper part of the panel, at points remote from the wall, with a wall or other structural element. As shown, each panel comprises vertical and horizontal bars 1, 2. An end vertical bar 1 carries pivots 3, 4 engaging respectively a steel angle member 6 projecting from the wall and a socket 7 let into the floor. The panel is held perpendicular to the wall by a bolt 9 on the lower outer corner which engages a socket 12 .in the floor and a tension member, e.g. 13, which may be adjustable, secured to a wall. The panel may be held against the wall by bolt 9 engaging a socket beside the wall and a further bolt 11 on the top corner engaging a hole in a plate secured to the wall. The outer end of the panel may be supported by a wheel 22. If two panels are used, as shown, tension wires 13, 14 may extend to walls 15, 16 perpendicular to wall 5 and a bracing tube 24 may extend between the panels and carry climbing ropes 26.
