Abstract
725,921. Cooling discharged materials. METALLGES, AKT.-GES. Oct. 19, 1953 [Nov. 11, 1952], No. 28827/53. Class 51 (2). [Also in Group II] In the cooling of hot agglomerated materials by passing a stream of cooling gas upwardly through the materials disposed on movable gaspermeable supports, e.g. on moving grates of the type disclosed in Specification 697,566, passage of fine material through the support is inhibited by forming thereon a lower layer of coarse particles and then forming an upper layer of fine particles on top of said lower layer. Hot material is discharged from a hopper H on to an oscillating sieve 1 disposed over an oscillating fan 2, from which the fine particles are diverted by baffles 6 and shoots 3 on to a chain grate G, the coarse particles being fed by baffles 4 down a shoot 5 on to the grate G before it reaches the discharge ends 7 of the shoots 3.
