Abstract

725,218. Rectilinear-motion bearings. COX & CO. (WATFORD), Ltd., and TOON, C. Dec. 8. 1953 [May 20, 1953], No. 14214/53. Class 12 (1). A rectilinear-motion bearing comprises outer and inner channel members 1, 3, having co-operating side flanges 2, 4 spaced apart from one another, and a set of three balls, one 6 of which is disposed between the body parts of the channel members, and the other two 5 of which are disposed between the side flanges 2, 4. Two sets of balls are located at spaced intervals, and limiting stops 9, 10 confine the balls to predetermined sections of the slide. The member 3 is secured to a fixed support and the member 1 to a relatively movable member. In a modification the arrangement is inverted. The bearing is applicable to sliding seats of motor vehicles, windows, doors or drawers.
