Abstract

1,031,434. Seats. H. J. MARSH and E. T. BURVILL. July 1, 1964 [April 4, 1963], No. 13406/63. Heading A4J. [Also in Division B7] A vehicle seat 23, Fig. 2, is carried by an upper frame 21, 22, rectilinearly slidable through roller bearings 19 transversely of a lower frame 12 having members 13 slidable by balls or rollers 15 in channel members 11 of a frame 10, Fig. 1, fixed to and extending longitudinally of the vehicle. The frame 12 is adjustable in the members 11 by a handle 26 carrying a detent to engage selectively in holes in one member 11. The upper frame can be moved transversely of the lower frame after operating a handle 28, so that the seat may be slid through a door opening, the handle being associated with lugs 31 co-operating with lugs 32 on the frame 12. Movement of the frame may be effected by power means e.g. an electric motor as described with reference to Fig. 4 (not shown) under control of a master switch operable by the movement of the door, which may be a slidable door.
