725,118. Gas meters. KROMSCHRODER AKT.-GES., G. Oct. 12, 1953 [Oct. 13, 1952], No. 27931/53. Class 54. A tangent arm 15 for a diaphragm type gas meter is adjustably connected to a support 13 on the crankshaft 12 for actuating the valves by an eccentrically disposed pivot 14 so that the effective length of the tangent arm is adjusted simultaneously with its angle to the crank 11. In this way, " lead " given to the valves by angular adjustment of the tangent arm to compensate for measurement errors due to variations in the pressure difference across the meter is accompanied by an alteration in the stroke of the diaphragms to maintain the extent of filling of the measuring chambers constant. The tangent arm may be manufactured as a stamping with two arcuate slots 16, 16<SP>1</SP> for engagement by the crankshaft 12 and a locking nut 17. A link 10 connects the crank 11 with a reciprocating, three-ported slide valve controlling the gas flow to opposite sides of a diaphragm while a second link 19 connects the tangent arm to a lever on the flag rod.
