Abstract

725,097. Cotton-pickers. INTERNATIONALHARVESTER CO. Aug. 18, 1953, No. 22735/53 Class 6 (3). A cotton-picking assembly mounting comprises a bearing sleeve 34 carrying the shank 32 of the picker spindle 4 and fitting removably within a bore 26 in a support 2, the support having a transverse hole 44 partially intersecting the bore and the sleeve having a mating transverse tangential groove which permits the insertion of a resilient tubular pin 42 of C- shaped cross-section to retain the sleeve in the bore. The support is generally of aluminium and includes a vertical channel 6 housing a driving shaft 10 for all the spindles which carry bevel gears 38 on their inner ends to engage corresponding gears 16 on the shaft 10. A lubricating duct 24 extends down the side of the channel 6 adjacent to the bearings 34. The outer ends 30 of the picker-spindles are tapered and barbed. The mounting avoids the necessity of threaded holes in the aluminium support 2.
