[Also in Division D1] A roller for the drafting devices of drawtwisting and draw-winding machines comprises a casing 27 formed from a tubular element with at least one end 8 widened conically from the inside to form an end on the roller of increasing diameter, the casing having races formed therein for roller members, e.g. balls 5, which rotatably mount the casing on a shaft. The roller shaft is mounted in a wall 1 and carries a disc 9<SP>11</SP> which closely approaches the roller casing to form a partial seal. An outer resilient disc 12 and an inner disc 11 also seal the bearings. Disc 12 may be such that a lubricating needle can be inserted therethrough, and that when the needle is withdrawn after lubrication the hole in disc 12 closes to continue to act as a seal.
