Abstract
448,542. Capillary-action lubricating. WHITELEY, W., Woodside, Elland, Yorkshire. Sept. 24, 1935, No. 26410. [Class 12 (iii)] In a spinning or doubling spindle of the self-contained type in which the foot-step bearing and bolster bearing D are combined, the bolster bearing is slotted at E, F and a wick H is threaded through holes G and extends to the well surrounding the footstep bearing. The footstep bearing may be separate from the bolster bearing and centred in the casing C by resilient means. The wick may be held in shape by a wire K and have caps L to prevent fraying. The wick may be in the form of a hose surrounding the spindle or may be replaced by capillary tubes. The bolster bearing may be in the form of a ball-bearing.
