516,311. Lubricating spinning spindles. FINE COTTON SPINNERS & DOUBLERS ASSOCIATION, Ltd., and BARNES, G. A. July 9, 1938, No. 20360. [Class 120 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] Bolster rails A and footstep rails B for the spindles of self acting mules have one or more horizontal grooves a, b which intersect the vertical holes c, c' in which the spindles rotate, and these grooves are filled with wick d or a strip of other absorbent material. This retains oil suplies sufficient to keep the spindles adequately lubricated. The grooves may be arranged on both sides of the spindles, or the spindles may rise through holes in absorbent material in one broad groove. The groove is preferably sunk below the level of the top of the spindle holes c and the material projects through a dove-tailed slot to contact with the spindle.
