Abstract

724,585. Tamper-proof closure caps. DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH, Inc. April 9, 1953, No. 9671/53. Class 125 (3). A tamper-proof closure cap for a container 21 having a discharge aperture with a lip 22 has a top 11, ribbed frusto-conical sides 12, annular shoulder 13 and depending tubular skirt 14. Between the lower edge 15 of skirt 14 and shoulder 13 are internal vertical ribs 16 and protruding inward from edge 15 are fixed tooth 17 and break out tooth 18 which engage the lip 22. A lug 24 extending outwardly from the skirt is a continuation of tooth 18 and circumscriving the intersection of the lug 24 and the tooth 18 with skirt 14 is a line of frangibility 27. The closure is applied by downward pressure on the top 11, sufficient distortion taking place to allow the teeth to pass over the lip and latch under it. The closure is made of a brittle material such as a vinyl plastic so that when the cap is removed by upward pressure on lug 24 tooth 18 is broken along line 27 and tampering is indicated.
