Abstract

724,383. Ventilators. SCHEPENS, J. Oct. 16, 1953 [Jan. 29, 1953], No. 28619/53. Class 137. An extractor ventilator for vehicles, which is made, e.g., of sheet metal, is particularly adapted to tramcars, omnibuses &c., and is operative irrespective of the direction of motion, comprises a vent member A for connecting the space to be ventilated with the outer atmosphere, and a dome-shaped partition cap D which together with its supporting disc B attached, e.g. by welding, to the member A, completely encloses the upper open end of the member A except for lateral openings G in the cap D which are screened fore-and-aft by vanes F on the cap D to create zones of low pressure at the mouths of the openings G so that air will be sucked from the interior of the vehicle as it moves. The ventilation is secured to the roof of a vehicle by means of a disc C which is secured to the vent member A.
