Abstract

724,320. Pneumatic conveyers; unloading material from vehicles and storage chambers by fluidisation. FULLER CO. March 26, 1953 [April 7, 1952], No. 8424/53. Classes 78 (1) and 78 (4). A vehicle 1, Fig. 1, has inclined gas-permeable members 24, 24<SP>1</SP> and 25, 25<SP>1</SP> arranged in its bottom which direct the aerated contents to the space below the bottom of a pair of verticallyadjustable discharge pipes 7, 7<SP>1</SP>. These pipes are surrounded by similarly adjustable curtain pipes 14, 14<SP>1</SP> and connected to pipes 19, 19<SP>1</SP> Fig. 3, under suction. Partitions 20, 20<SP>1</SP> spaced inwardly from the end walls 3, 3<SP>1</SP> form chambers to which air is admitted through openings 21, 21<SP>1</SP> and filters 22, 22<SP>1</SP>. Since the tops of the partitions are below the top 2 of the vehicle and are adjacent to baffles 23, 23<SP>1</SP>, the air entering the vehicle through the openings 21, 21<SP>1</SP> flows over the tops of the partitions and is directed downwardly on to the material and into the tops of the curtain pipes 14, 141. The gaspermeable members 24, 24<SP>1</SP> and 25, 251 form the tops of chambers 26, 26<SP>1</SP>, 27, 27<SP>1</SP> into which gas under pressure is forced by means 28, 29. The contents are directed on to the members 24, 241, 25, 25<SP>1</SP> by inclined surfaces 30, 30<SP>1</SP>, 31, 31<SP>1</SP>. In a modification in which a single discharge pipe 38, Fig. 7, is used, the lower ends of the longitudinally extending gas-permeable members direct the material on to transversely extending inclined gas-permeable members 50, 50<SP>1</SP> which direct it to the space below the pipe 38. A plug 52, which bridges the gap between the members 50, 50<SP>1</SP> can be removed when it is desired to discharge the contents by gravity.
