Abstract
723,479. Chassis frames. DAIMLER-BENZ AKT.-GES. Sept. 26, 1952 [Sept. 26, 1951], No. 24193/52. Classes 79(3) and 79(4). A motor vehicle has a chassis frame comprising one or more longitudinal members which at one end at least is or are disposed between the adjacent wheels 3 and above their axle, the member or members being located at the one end over the engine-gearing assembly 8 which is suspended at one point about midway of its length from the end portion or end portions of the member or members. As shown the frame comprises a single longitudinal member the middle portion 1 of which is disposed at a level lower than the wheel axles. The portion 1 has an upturned part 1<SP>1</SP> the end of which is formed as a boss 1<SP>2</SP> with a conical bore which detachably receives a conical end of a member 2 which is secured in position by a nut. The engine gearing assembly 8 is supported from this member 2 by a hanger 7 the upper end of which is formed as a sleeve 71 fitted with a rubber bush 9 which encircles the member 2 to resiliently support the assembly 8.
