722,739. Carburetters. SOLEX. May 26, 1952 [June 21, 1951], No. 13328/52. Class 7 (3). A carburetter including an idling device capable of feeding the engine with an air and fuel mixture when the throttle valve is in its idling position, i.e. in its position of maximum closing or very close to this position and including a device adapted by modifying the section of at least one air or fuel or mixture passage of the idling device to reduce or cut off the fuel delivery of the idling device when the degree of opening of the throttle valve is greater than that which corresponds to idling, embodies means adapted to delay the re-establishment of the normal fuel delivery of the idling device after the throttle valve has been brought back from an open position to its idling position. In Fig. 1, a well 8 supplied with fuel from the fuel passage 5 leading to a main nozzle 4 supplies idling fuel to a passage 10 to which air is admitted through an orifice 11 and which leads to at least one orifice for instance to orifices 12, 13 (adjustable by screw 14 Fig. 2) adjacent the edge of the throttle valve. A valve 22 operated by a diaphragm 18 exposed to the suction on the engine side of the throttle valve is employed to close or partly close the mixture passage 10 when the suction is below a predetermined value and to open it with some lag when the throttle valve is brought back to its idling position. The desired lag is produced by use of a restricted passage or orifice 20 through which the suction is transmitted to the diaphragm. A delay in feeding fuel through the idling jet is obtained. In Fig. 2 a valve 25 is employed to control the air supply to the passage 10. The valve 25 is operated by a diaphragm 26 subjected to the suction on the engine side of the throttle valve. A by-pass passage 27 around the valve 25 is employed. A restricted orifice 20 is inserted in the conduit 19. The temporary cutting off of the idling jet facilitates starting when the engine is warm.
