Abstract

A fluid extreme pressure lubricating composition comprises a major proportion of a mineral lubricating oil having a viscosity between 45 and 300 S.U.S. at 210 DEG F., 2-10 per cent of an oil-soluble lead soap, and 0.1-5 per cent of an antiemulsification agent which is castor oil, calcium petroleum sulphonate, triethanolamine, aminoethyl ethanolamine or high molecular weight polymers obtained from the oxo process. Lead soaps specified are lead naphthenate, oleate or stearate or the lead soap of tallow acids. Optional additives are sulphurized sperm or lard oil, sulphurized oleic acid, P2S5-treated fatty or mineral oils and phosphate esters.
