Abstract

720,811. Glass fibres. YEATMAN, H. M. (Grunzweig & Hartmann Akt.-Ges.). March 13, 1953, No. 7030/53. Class 56. Glass or like mineral fibre mats are produced by blasts from jets 2 which entrain the molten glass from the nozzle 1 and project it through a shaft 6 onto the pervious collecting conveyer 3 on which it is compacted by a roller 5. The shaft 6 is stepped at 7, 8 to cause turbulence in the gaseous stream which produces tangling, curling and matting of the fibres. A binding medium is sprayed into the shaft.
