Abstract
720,579. Seals. PERCIVAL, I. C., and TIERNEY, J. E. Oct. 14, 1952, No. 25780/52. Class 146 (2). A seal comprises a base portion 10 with an intermediate leaf 15 at one end and a third section 21 at the other, the leaf having a tongue 20 spaced from its longitudinal edges and projecting from its free end, and the section 21 having an orifice 23 adjacent the junction with the base portion which is as long as the tongue and complementary in shape and position thereto, the tongue being received in the orifice when the leaf is folded on to the base, and the section 21 being subsequently folded on to the leaf. The base has upturned sides 11, upsloped ends 12, and a central rib 13 with a channel 14 on each side. The leaf 15 has upstanding flanges 17 with teeth 18 to grip cords, &c. To prevent accidental raising of the section 21 from the leaf the free end of the section may be arranged to abut a transverse rib 19 on the leaf, or the pointed end 26 of the section 21 may be received in a housing 24 formed by slitting the leaf. The junctions of the leaf and section 21 with the base are weakened by scoring or grooving at 16, and 22. A crest, &c. may be placed on the face of section 21, and strengthening ribs may be provided on the leaf.
