Abstract

720,413. Spray carburetters. ALBION PATENTS, Ltd. April 1, 1953 [April 17, 1952], No. 9660/52. Class 7 (3). A hollow piston type throttle valve 6 controls an inlet port or ports 2 and an outlet port 3 leading to the engine the valve having ports 7, 8 therein for this purpose, a linkage connects the piston and a fuel control pin or needle valve 5 and a cylinder is carried by the body 1 and is in communication with one end thereof a plunger 20 being arranged in the cylinder 17 and so connected to the linkage as to cause the mechanical advantage of the linkage to be altered on movement of the plunger. On sudden opening of the throttle valve air is pumped into the cylinder 17 to operate the plunger 20 so that additional fuel is supplied for acceleration purposes. The linkage comprises double links 24, 27, 28. A roller 32, adjustable by means of a nut 34, engages guideways 16. The guideways are carried by a bracket 15 attached to a rod 10 carried by the throttle valve while the lever 24 is pivoted at 26 on a bracket 25 carried by the body 1. An adjustable valve 39 allows expulsion of air from the end of the body 1 and a spring-loaded valve 40 admits air. A manual control lever 35 (Fig. 3) is provided to operate the member 24 and open the valve 5 for starting. The lever is associated with a spring (not shown). The part 3 (Fig. 8) is fitted with a filter 41.
