720,353. Vehicle axle bearings. MORRIS. Ltd., R. and MAXWELL, N. R. Sept. 18, 1953 [Oct. 29, 1952], No. 27162/52. Class 12 (1) In a corve axle pedestal bearing, the bearing seat a extends the length of the pedestal and vertical walls c disposed on each side of the seat a have vertical recesses d therein which extend upwards into the pedestal and terminate above the level of the bearing seat to receive lubricant as the axle revolves and feed it to the axle. The ends of the recesses have retaining walls which prevent an excess of lubricant from escaping at the ends of the pedestal. In a modification, felt or like absorbent pads are provided in the recesses at the opposite sides of the axle to hold lubricant against the axle. The bearing seat may have nylon inserts.
