Abstract
720,137. Shaping shoe vamps. WESTERN SUPPLIES CO. July 2, 1951, No. 4566/53. Divided out of 720,096. Class 17 (1). A shoe vamp V cut to the desired shape and size is laid on a cushion die element 40 of a bed die 26 and pressed by hand into a recess 42 therein. The descending plunger die 28 causes the tip 51 of the pressure element 50 to first contact the vamp and then slide it down into the recess 42 with a wiping action due to the angular relation of the dies relative to the direction of pressure. Heat is supplied to the die 28. The die 26 is detachably mounted by pins and sockets 34, 18 on the supporting block 12.
