719,962. Cooking vessels. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. May 18, 1953, [May ig, 1952.] No. 12562/52. Drawings to Specification. Class 66. A vessel for heating liquids wherein the portion of the vessel through which heat is to be transmitted to the contents is formed as a structurally separate part from the main portion of the body, this part being either made of a material having the same or approximately the same thermal coefficient of expansion as the material of which the main body is made or being mounted in sealing engagement therewith by means of yielding or resilient sealing means, the structurally separate part having a thermal transmission characteristic providing for a relatively higher rate of heat transmission to the contents of the vessel than the rate of heat lost therefrom through the main portion of the body. The separate part may be of brass, copper or aluminium and the.main body of a ceramic or glass material. The invention is described as applied to a coffee percolater having a structurally separate part in the form of a metal plug or plate in its base with an external face provided with electrical heating means or so positioned as to be placed in thermal communication with an external hot-plate or heating flame.
