Abstract
<PICT:0719597/IV (a)/1> <PICT:0719597/IV (a)/2> <PICT:0719597/IV (a)/3> In the manufacture of threads from thermoplastic materials, such as polyamides, by the ribbon melt-spinning process in which the ribbon is propelled and guided to the melting chamber by a supply device, the last guide of which is spaced from the entrance of the melting chamber, an auxiliary movable guiding member is provided which in its operative position spans the gap between the supply device and the entrance of the melting chamber and thereby facilitates spinning-in and the replacement of spinning ribbons. The supply device (Fig. 2) comprises a pair of driven rollers 10, 11 for forwarding the ribbon 7 through guiding channels 8, 9. The gap (see Fig. 3) between the supply device and the melting chamber 29 is bridged by a guide 17 which is supported by the lower end of the supply device and is movable into and out of its operative position along grooves 18, 19 and 24, 25. The movable guide (Fig. 4) is provided with a ribbon-guiding slot 22 and with a heat-insulating handle 23.
